The devonharris’s Podcast

I know this...sometimes when I wake up in the morning and I am healthy and I am scheduled to go to a facility, I get in my car, arrive at the gate and if I get through security to at least one young man or group,

I know there is going to be a battle.

It has become the norm over the years because of where we go.

It is a place of spiritual darkness and often the young minds do not even realize they are in the midst of “the pit.” Not the prison walls some talk about, but the spiritual bondage which has led them, possibly to the crime for which they are doing time. Most of the time I go in with no agenda, trusting God to speak something to somebody to open a door so they can have an awareness of God in their life.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Galatians 5:1

The book of Galatians addresses one of the toughest issues the early communities of believers in Jesus faced: how to understand and relate to the requirements of Mosaic law, especially for gentile believers. Should gentile believers be required to be circumcised and to follow other aspects of Mosaic law? Some were teaching this very thing. Paul’s encounter with the risen Jesus, however, convinced him that the law should be interpreted differently—as leading to and finding fulfillment in Christ (Galatians 2:19–21). To require believers to follow the law when Christ had already made them right with God and won their freedom (5:1, 4–6) would be “a different gospel . . . no gospel at all” (1:6–7).

Are we really free?

Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. Therefore, be firm ⌞in this freedom⌟, and don’t become slaves again. You were indeed called to be free, brothers and sisters. Don’t turn this freedom into an excuse for your corrupt nature to express itself. Rather, serve each other through love. All of Moses’ Teachings are summarized in a single statement, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” But if you criticize and attack each other, be careful that you don’t destroy each other. Let me explain further. Live your life as your spiritual nature directs you. Then you will never follow through on what your corrupt nature wants. What your corrupt nature wants is contrary to what your spiritual nature wants, and what your spiritual nature wants is contrary to what your corrupt nature wants. They are opposed to each other. As a result, you don’t always do what you intend to do. If your spiritual nature is your guide, you are not subject to Moses’ laws.

Busy weekend and now busy evening...but a GOOD ONE from June 2013. Enjoy!
Another opinion from Devon Harris.  Today’s topic: Engaging the Culture! There has been a lot of discussion, blogs, and chatter about the church not engaging the culture.  There is a movement happening in the culture that is driving the thought process.  The music and the slow marketing of a evil message to change the mindset of society. So, how does the REAL CHURCH Engage the so-called mess up cult?
